I've always tried to avoid comparing one "era" to another, as each represents a truly distinct evolution in the band's sound. I fully understand why someone prefers one over the other and even spend an unusual amount of time disparaging a period(s) they see as "weak" or "so lame it makes me wish my lower intestine would crawl up my spinal column and throttle my brain in order to make the pain stop" (you know who you are... WT). I like what Mando has done and examined each show on its own merits and faults. Taking this approach will help anyone find some stand-out shows as well as steam-loaves in any time period,

This is the nicest sounding of the Stephens indeed though as one who was forever changed by the two NYC shows I remain glad that my departure date of 10-15-83 for Lackland AFB and a short career in the USAF made me preclude the usual New England venues for my first trip to the Big Apple.
